It is the greatest challenge of the 21st century: climate change. We all feel it. Consequences like flooding, heatwaves, and drought are increasingly impacting our daily lives. Various initiatives, including Climate Adaptation Groningen, are showing how we can adapt to the changing climate in order to keep our living environment safe and habitable. To provide engaged citizens across the Netherlands with a clear and inspiring course of action, we have developed an engaging short documentary in collaboration with Climate Adaptation Groningen, calling for action.

In Groene Golven (Green Waves), we see a variety of people committed to adapting to the consequences of a warming world. We speak with active citizens, agricultural researchers, artists, behavioral scientists, mudflat hikers, landscape architects, municipal officials, the Delta Commissioner, and Ban Ki-moon. We find them on mounds, dikes, green roofs, and nature reserves. From technocratic concrete dikes and dams to innovative natural climate buffers. The climate is changing—are we changing with it? With more space for nature, and thus our future in the Dutch delta?
